Standard Vials Can Interfere with PFAS Results

Even trace contamination can compromise PFAS test results. Many standard lab vials can introduce background PFAS contamination, especially those made of glass or capped with PTFE-lined closures. This creates a serious concern when labs are working to meet low part-per-trillion or even part-per-quadrillion detection limits.

Unlined Closures

These closures feature an integrated 10 mil sealing membrane that replaces separated liners, creating a clean, consistent contact surface. This design reduces handling variables and is well suited for single‑injection PFAS testing.

Unlined closures come in 9 mm R.A.M™ Top Seal™ in clear polypropylene as well as polyethylene variations.  11 mm Snap Top Cap™ and 13-425 mm Top Seal™ closures are also available.

Lined Closures

These closures combine a 1 mm amber‑tinted polyimide layer with high‑purity silicone for lowered leachable content and preserved sample integrity. Designed for durability, they support elevated temperatures up to 130 °C and remain reliable for multi‑injection PFAS workflows, typically up to ten injections.

Lined closures come in several varieties including 9 mm R.A.M™ Ribbed, 11 mm and 13 mm Snap Top Cap™, and 13-425 mm Open Hole and Solid Propylene closures.

Polypropylene Vials

Chemically-resistant, lightweight, and economic, polypropylene vials are an excellent alternative to glass.  These vials are designed to work in most autosamplers and are ideal for all aspects of PFAS analysis from sampling to testing.

These vials come in a wide-range of volumes from 100 µL to 2.5 mL, diameters in 9 mm, 11 mm, and 13-425 mm, as well as a variety of styles including R.A.M.™ and R.A.M.™ Limited Volume, Snap Ring™, Snap Seal™, crimp top, and threaded options.
