Soil and Plant Analysis

Soil and plant quality analysis is crucial for optimizing agricultural crop yields and understanding the health of natural ecosystems. However, its seasonal nature presents challenges, as labs must handle a surge in sample throughput during peak growing periods.

Soil and Plant Analysis

Efficient Soil and Plant Analysis Through Automation

SEAL offers reliable solutions that automate otherwise slow, manual processes to elevate productivity and flexibility through all steps of soil and plant analysis. Automating colorimetric chemistries with discrete and continuous flow analyzers for nutrient analysis, ensuring identical sample digests with our digestion blocks, and freeing up analysts from monotonous tasks with our robotic handling systems for pH testing and sample prep are all possibilities; all alongside SEAL Analytical’s best-in-class support.

Our Expertise

Continuous Flow Analyzers

Ideal for laboratories requiring high throughput, high reproducibility and low detection limits, SEAL segmented flow analyzers are state-of-the-art instruments and are customizable to fit a variety of workloads and method requirements. They are ideally suited for standard nutrients and can include in-line sample preparation such as dialysis and UV digestion.

Our segmented flow analyzers utilize inert, glass manifolds and a 2 mm internal diameter - this larger internal diameter allows for small particles to continue downstream rather than causing clogs or fluidic disturbances. Additionally, dialyzers are available to provide in-line sample cleanup and dilution on plant and soil extractions.

Discrete Analyzers

SEAL discrete nutrient analyzers enable highly automated soils testing, offering true “walkaway” operation, automatic standard preparation and automatic pre- and post-dilution capabilities. They are ideal for laboratories requiring high levels of automation, a simple user experience, and a wide range of chemistries.

SEAL discrete analyzers are capable of running our full environmental and agricultural methods list out of the box without any additional hardware or method changeover needed.

Soil Analysis by Probe

We offer multiple options for automating your soils testing. The SEAL MiniLab Multi-Parameter Robotic Series can be readily configured to prepare and automate a range of analytical parameters. Ideal for water and soil applications, systems range from a simple single-parameter unit to a multi-probe unit designed to measure several parameters. The MiniLab Robot is compatible with a wide range of current meters, probe types, and titration systems.

Digestion Systems

A combination of reagents and heat are often applied to soil samples for phosphorous and nitrogen testing, a methodology referred to as digestion. SEAL offers multiple systems to meet the full range of sample digestion needs, including a variety of choices for automation level and maximum temperature - always ensuring samples are treated identically on every round of digestion.

Sample Preparation Products

SEAL offers stand-alone filtration robots for high-capacity soil applications, and filtration can be added to any of our MiniLab robotic systems. Weighing samples before drying or after ashing is also possible via MiniLab robotic automation. Our segmented flow analyzers are also commonly used for in-line sample filtration using cellulose dialyzer membranes..
