Job Summary:

SEAL Analytical is seeking a Service and Support Chemist to join our UK team (Wrexham, Wales) in a dynamic, customer-facing role. As a global leader in automated environmental analysis with over 60 years of expertise built into every analyzer, SEAL is known for both precision instrumentation and exceptional technical support. In this position, you will travel routinely to laboratories across the UK to perform installations, preventative maintenance, repairs, and customer training, while also providing remote troubleshooting and application support.

This role is ideal for a chemistry graduate who enjoys hands-on technical work, problem-solving, and direct interaction with laboratory professionals. You will develop deep expertise across SEAL’s discrete analyzers, segmented flow analyzers, digestion systems, and robotic platforms, helping laboratories produce accurate, reliable, and defensible data every day.

The SEAL Service and Support Chemist will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following functions:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform on-site instrument repairs and maintenance
  • Plan, schedule and perform service activities assigned to you on a monthly basis
  • Customer follow-up and update CRM records
  • Teach customers the proper maintenance tasks to do on a daily, weekly, monthly and six month basis, following checklists
  • Provide assistance to customers by phone, email  or in person
  • When necessary, create customer bulletins describing procedures to most efficiently and effectively use their instrument
  • Perform diagnostics on in-house instruments
  • In house instrument servicing and assembly as necessary
  • Maintain office travel calendar
  • Become an expert on our entire product line of Discrete, Segmented Flow, Sample Preparation and Robotic Instruments
  • Report on trends, needs and service challenges to keep SEAL up to date on customer requirements

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Perform on-site installations and trainings of SEAL Analytical instrumentation.
  • Contact customers to arrange installation/training dates
  • Book all travel arrangements for installation/training
  • Prepare all paperwork for customer installation/training
  • Maintain expense reports
  • Customer follow-up after installation/training
  • Perform telephone and e-mail troubleshooting for customers
  • Analyze customer data including assigning diagnostic tests
  • Collect support data for new chemistry methods
  • Laboratory maintenance and cleaning
  • Gather all reagents, supplies, and the instrument needed for customer demonstrations

Qualifications

 Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or closely related field.
  • Basic chemistry laboratory skills.
  • Thorough understanding of basic electricity and analog/digital theory is required. 
  • Must have the ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, electronic/mechanical drawings, and technical operation manuals.
  • Excellent communication skills directly or via telephone/email.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment as a part of a team to accomplish common goals.
  • Ability to travel 50 to 75% of time; mostly week-day.
  • Majority of travel within the UK; International travel as required.
  • Hold valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with a variety of problems and situations.
